Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing to bring your attention to the construction activity that will start next month in the Garden of Five Senses.  I got this information from my friend. He is employed with the builder “Realtec Properties”. Since, my friend is working as a part of this project, the source of my information is authentic. This builder has also got no objection certificate from the municipal corporation.

This park is the only place available in the close proximity of our region. Many children who are sports aficionados use this park to play sports such as cricket and soccer. In addition, it is a great place for elderly people to socialize with their friends and relish their childhood memories. Apart from this, many people use this place to rejuvenate themselves.

Once the construction starts, many trees which act as a barrier will be cut down. Also, this activity will result in the increase in air and noise pollution due to heavy equipment and machinery which are going to be used at this site. Overall, it will be harmful for our area and the city. I request you to look into this matter and make people aware of this development through your newspaper.

Yours faithfully,

Ritesh Dua

    Dear Sir,

I am Ivan Johannes living close to Breckonsville park in Downtown street. I am writing this letter to inform you about the illegal construction of Melonwood apartments in the park. I would like you to publish this news in your local edition so that the city chairperson and other government officials could take necessary actions to prevent the construction.

Let me explain in detail, last week in the dawn of 13th November I noticed several trucks and survey equipment parked at the park complex. People were clearing the loan and cutting down the garden. Later, in the morning we saw the entire park was abolished. The council was informed and they had a meeting with the construction company. They informed that the apartments has been sanctioned to be constructed over the park.

The park has been a refreshment place in our town for the children, youth and the older people in the society. Various annual gathering and functions are being held in this park. More than a park it is a home for our society.

Moreover, the construction of the apartments can make the colony more congested. Trees are the only source of fresh air in this polluted world. Construction of buildings can make the air polluted making an unhealthy atmosphere to live.

I would like you to disseminate the news to the world so that the construction could be restricted or permitted in grounds of law. Moreover, government officials would involve to solve this problem.

Hoping that I would receive a positive response from your end.

    Yours faithfully,
    Ivan

    Dear Sir,

I am writing to you to express my opinion about the construction of apartment in the Royal Park at Crossbay Street. It would be great if you could add my suggestions in your newspaper.

I heard about the plan from one of my friends who is in the administrative board of the park. I got informed that the Pine trees, which is one of the main attraction of the Park, would be cut down for the construction of apartments.

As you may know, people in that locality prefer to wind down from stress by spending quality time together with their family in that park. Moreover, tourists from many places are also attracted to this park for its natural beauty. Also, it has a lush and verdant space that purifies the air by absorbing fumes emitted by vehicles.

Considering the importance of the Park, I would like the apartments to be built at the unused plot adjacent to the auditorium. Hence, we can keep the Park untouched.

I look forward to hearing from you.

    Yours faithfully

    Eva Marium
