Band 7.5 IELTS essay sample

It is believed that due to the increasing use of telecommunication technology, personal face to face interactions between people will become obsolete / will cease to exist. I can only partially agree with this view / I do not quite agree with this view.

On the one hand, I am in favour of this view based on the phenomenon that has transpired in our society. These days, screens are ubiquitous and people from all walks of life capitalize on civilized conveniences such as the internet, social media or smart phones. Through these methods, people have more opportunities to socialize with others. More and more people now depend on these convenient media to maintain their connection with others. To illustrate, while people are logged into one social media, they can post their current status and check others’ updates. They can easily communicate with their acquaintances by leaving comments.

On the other hand, I would think that traditional interaction method can be bolstered with the support of the advancement of technology. The newest forms of media are facilitating direct interaction among the users of the media. The novel media lead people to establish online communication based on their preferences or interests and then people start to expand their community from online to offline by hosting events. Pug festivals are an example of this.

Many people post the picture of their own pets and some of them raise pugs as a pet. They follow each other to share information or pet supplies. When they have trust in each other, they set up offline meetings. By doing so, some people build personal relationship within the group or they hold events for donation. Thus, the communication stemming from online often promotes personal interactions in the real world.

In conclusion, in my perspective, the unprecedented developments in communication involving the internet and texting not only increase the interaction among people online but also nudge people towards having more offline meetings.

With the advent of modern communication technology, most people are relying on it to connect with others; which has put a threat on the vary existence of direct mode of communication among humans. Although latest communication methods like internet, texting message have revolutionized the communication field, it has destroyed the sweetness of human relationships obtained through face to face meetings.

To begin with, seeing the necessities of present era, it has become imperative for people to utilise the modern ways of communication. These days many people are living the nomadic lives to earn more and more. They need to leave their homes to become the prime earners. In this scenario, to connect to their families, social networking sites like Facebook, what’s app are being used extensively as they are the faster and easier ways available to humans to exchange their thoughts with their near and dear ones sitting around the globe. Moreover latest inventions like Skype , video calling have provided chance to see the person sitting on another end ; which is the main reason for making them more practical and popular choice in comparison to traditional ways of communication for people.

On the other hand, so much dependency of people on latest modes of communication is wrecking the nature of human relationships and becoming one of the reasons of human unrest. Humans have made themselves in such a way that despite having time they don’t want to waste it meeting with friends physically. They connect to their friends via phones to save time for their business ventures. That is the reason meeting with friends in coffee shops, juggling and laughing is like a nightmare for present generation. As a result people are unable to ventilate their feelings which is possible only after direct personal meetings. This is also a reason a large number of people are getting suffered from mental problems like stress and anxiety related disorders.

To conclude, although modern lifestyle has changed the necessities of human civilization and made the people dependent on modern communication techniques, the basic need of humans to connect with others physically is irreplaceable. It is quite essential for their mental well being.I hope people would understand the need of face to face meetings and start using the latest communication methods judicially.
