In this age of technology / globalization, the internet has proved to be a boon for the society. As time passes / with the passage of time the knowledge provided by this innovation has made us dependent on it; however, the society can retrograde if this web facility is overused.
To commence with, the net plays a promising role in the development of the society. It acts as a reliable source of information for any age group. Learners irrespective of their ages can surf the internet and widen the horizons of their mind by imbibing knowledge. Thus, the internet plays an imperative role in the dissemination of knowledge. For instance, young children can become innovators by grasping ideas from the internet. Also, older people can get their hands on new technologies such as mobile phones using the internet.
Undoubtedly, the web does prove to be extremely beneficial. However, increased access does bring with it negative aspects which are irrefutable. It can prove be a bane for the society as personal and confidential information has become readily available making it vulnerable to exploitation. People provide their particulars knowingly or unknowingly and thus get trapped by exploiters. Another concern is the reliability of information. Much of the information on the internet is user generated and as such there is no easy way to check its veracity.
To conclude, the World Wide Web has magnificently increased our access to information. Nevertheless, there are significant concerns about the reliability of this information.
