Band 8 IELTS essay sample
According to some people, regular workouts are the secret of good health; others, however, insist that following a nutritious diet is even more important. In my opinion, people who want to live a healthy and long life should nutritious foods and follow an exercise regimen.
Getting physically active is crucial for staying healthy and young because regular exercise benefits the human body in many ways. For example, it increases the blood circulation, boosts metabolism and provides immunity to various types of diseases. Studies have shown that people who work out regularly have considerably low risk of developing heart trouble or diabetes. Actually, engaging in regular physical activity is crucial for controlling many medical conditions like diabetes. Nowadays, we all live rather sedentary lives and it is impossible to get the exercise we need by simply going about life. For this reason, it is important for us to set aside at least 30 minutes a day for our workout.
However, exercise alone will not help because for optimal functioning, our body needs a variety of micro and macro nutrients that only a balanced diet can provide. Nutritional deficiency can lead to a host of ailments such as anaemia, goitre and brittle bones. A balanced diet provides all the nutrients our body needs and helps keep us in good health. In fact, those who follow a good diet show increased immunity against various illnesses.
In conclusion, a balanced diet coupled with a good exercise regime is the secret to good health. In my opinion, both are crucial for good health and it is impossible to say whether one is more important than the other.
