You were supposed to meet your friend yesterday but you were unable to come. Write a letter to him/her and say

• How did you try to contact him/her?
• What was the reason for your absence?
• When do you plan to meet with him/her again?

Hi Karan

I am extremely sorry that we couldn’t meet yesterday. I really wanted to come, but I was not in town. Let me explain what happened. An uncle who used to work with my dad when we were in Dehradun turned up in the morning. I had to take him on a sightseeing trip. I thought that we would be back by 5 pm and in that case, I could have come to your place at 6.

Unfortunately, we had to make some changes to our itinerary and consequently we were late. When I realized that I wouldn’t be able to make it on time, I tried to call you but I guess we were outside the mobile coverage area. I tried again after sometime, but still I couldn’t get through to you. I am really sorry about this.

I really want to meet you before you leave for Singapore on Thursday. Would it be alright if I came to your place on Tuesday in the afternoon? I am free on that day.
