It is considered that richness plays a vital role in charity. Though it is true that donations come only from surplus incomes, I can only partially agree with this because there are many people who refuse to support in spite of being wealthy.

Undoubtedly, charitable attitude arises only when people have disposable incomes. In other words, people offer donation from the excess amount they have after their monthly expenses. If people struggle for their survival, it is highly impossible for them to help fellow humans. Moreover, the thought of offering help comes only when people are self-sufficient so that they can lead a comfortable life even after helping others. To illustrate, there is a group in my organisation which collects money/funds on a monthly basis from peers and friends. The majority of them earn well and that is why they allocate some amount from their salary to help the needy.

However, in my view, alongside richness, the right mindset is equally important to help others. There are many people who are affluent yet do not come forward to donate. Because their perception is that it is the responsibility of the government to take care of the needy and not them. Many actors and sports people, for example, are rich but only a few turn out to be philanthropic. Rest of them does not bother about the welfare of their nation or people. So, it is imperative that without the willingness to give, charity does not happen.

In summary, even though wealth plays a significant role in philanthropy, it is not the only factor which can be considered for helping others. In my opinion, if people do not have the desire to aid others, wealth is of no use.
