The graph shows the population figures of different types of turtles in India from 1980 to 2012. Write a report in 150 words.

Band 7 Academic IELTS Task 1 Report

The illustration presents the population figures of a variety of turtles in India over a 32 year period. In 1980, all turtle species are shown to have the same population at unit 100 but later on the Olive Ridley Turtles dominated the population for more than 15 years. The number of Leatherback Turtles increased until 1987; however, afterwards, it decreased dramatically making it the least populous of all the species. In 1980, all species of turtles had a population of 100 units each. The Olive Ridley Turtles continuously increased in number until they reached a peak of around 13O units in 1996 before their number started fluctuating and dropped to 125 in 2012. In 1986, all the types of turtles reached a number of 110 but, Leatherback Turtles continued to decrease in number since then reaching just 60 in 2012. On the other hand, the population trend of Green Turtles fluctuated continuously from the start and finally reached less than 90 units in 2012.
