Band 8 IELTS letter sample

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am writing this letter to file a claim regarding a laptop I recently lost while on a vacation in Dubai. This was a maroon Microsoft Surface 2 laptop which I had recently bought from a mall in Dubai, along with the backpack.

After a long day of sightseeing, I was returning back to my hotel using the public transit when our bus was hit by a car. We were advised by the bus driver to leave the bus for safety reasons. In the rush to get off the bus, I forgot my laptop bag in the bus. I contacted lost and found of the transit company to inquire, but they do not have the whereabouts of this bag and laptop.

I had purchased the travel insurance before going on holiday for covering instances like this, and I would like to file a lost claim for this notebook I have lost. Luckily, I have the receipt from the store as a proof of purchase which I can submit along with the necessary paperwork.

Please consider this letter and the enclosed documents as an official claim submission for my laptop and process the claim after reviewing.

Sincerely,
(Full name)

    Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing this letter to file a claim regarding a notebook which I lost on my vacation in New Delhi. I purchased this laptop 1 year back through an e-commerce platform. I do not have a warranty for this gadget unless it had a hardware damage within it’s warranty period of 2 years.

During the way back to my hotel after the Tajmahal visit in Agra, New Delhi using the public transit metro service which is during peak business hours. I was standing in one of the coach by keeping the notepad in a dashboard available inside the train, since it was crowded inside. I forgot to take back my note pad from the dashboard when the train arrived at my destination station by chit chatting to a stranger from my native place.

I had opted for a travel insurance for this holiday trip, which I often opt as a safety measure against such instance. The insurance reference number for this trip is ACLA2155132. I am also submitting my purchase invoice of the laptop for you to process the claim.
Please consider this letter and enclosed documents as an official submission of claim for my lost notebook and Please contact to my mail id Sushant.kanna@gmail.com in case if you need any document further to review for the submission of claim. I am expecting a fast and early processing time from your insurance organisation.

    Yours Sincerely
    Sushanth Kanna
