It is an undeniable fact that the air we breathe is more polluted than ever, especially in cities. Although to a certain extent I agree with the argument that motor vehicles pollute the air around us, I do not support their ban. In this essay I will support my views with valid arguments.

To begin with, automobiles are not the only major contributors of air pollution. A number of factors such as, toxic chemicals released into the air, mine dust due to mining activities and deforestation contaminate air. For example, many chemical and food industries established within the cities or on the outskirts release harmful gases and byproducts that not only pollute the air we breathe but also harm our health after prolonged exposure.

As a lot of elements contribute to the low quality of air, banning vehicles alone does not solve the problems. Motor-vehicles have become such an integral part of our daily routine that imagining a single day without them is terrifying. For example, if it were not for the easy transportation they provide for basic as well as more urgent matters such as buying everybody essentials or making hospital visits, life would be extremely difficult and painful. Even though, I disagree with a complete prohibition of automobiles, I believe that the usage of these should be regulated to curb pollution.

To conclude, though I agree with the argument that automobiles are a major source of air pollution, I would argue that they should not be prohibited completely as it would cause a severe disruption of our daily life.
