IELTS Speaking: Questions about home town

The IELTS speaking test takes about 15 minutes. It has three parts: an interview, a speech and a discussion.

During the interview you will be asked questions about yourself, your family, friends, home town, job etc. Here is a list of questions that could be asked about your home town.

  5. Tell me something about your city / home town / village?
  6. What are the advantages or disadvantages of living in a city?

  8. Is there something that you don’t like about your home town?
  9. What do you like about your home town?
  10. Do you like to go shopping?
  11. Are there any big shopping malls in your home town?
  12. How long have you lived here?
  13. Would you like to move to another city / town?
  14. Do you enjoy your stay in this town?
  15. Have you got many neighbors?
  16. Do you know your neighbors well?
  17. Do you get along well with your neighbors?
  18. When did you settle in this town?
  19. What are some of the problems people in urban areas face?
  20. Would you like to live in a small village?
  21. Would you like to live in a multi-cultural society?
  22. What are the advantages of living in the center of a big city?
  23. How easy it is to find accommodation in your home town?
  24. Does your society accept newcomers?
  25. Are there many social classes of people in your country?
  26. Tell me something about the apartment you live in?
  27. Who do you live with and why?
  28. What do you like about your apartment?
